Myths about Hair
Up to 80%—of colour fade is simply due to water exposure. Healthy hair has a natural protective encasing that breaks down with multiple proccesses. To help colour last longer use colour-conserving shampoos and conditioners, which mimic natural water-repelling properties.
Sorry but this one is not true. Split ends cannot be repaired and should be cut off regularly or thy will split higher and higher causing excessive damage.
- Pluck one gray hair and two grow back
- Brush your hair for ninety strokes each night to encourage growth
There is no scientific basis to this myth, it is simply not true.
The nightly brushing ritual will neither harm nor encourage your hair. You may see an increase in shine, but you can just as easily see an increase in split ends. If you must add a ritual to the evening procedure, combing will be gentler.
Dying my hair will make it fall out
You can harm your hair with frequently-used, inferior and improperly-used chemicals, but you will not lose your hair.
In order for the hair to fall out, the hat would have to be so tight that it cuts circulation to the follicles, so No this one is definitely just a myth as hair loss is primarily due to dihydrotestosterone, not hats. Hats do cause hair breakage and to a lesser degree to split ends.
There are no quality hair-care products that can actually cause hair loss. You may colour, sculpt, gel and mouse to your hearts desire.
- Standing on your head cures hair loss
The idea is that, by standing on your head, blood flow will be increased and your scalp will be regenerated. Specialist agree on the fact that it has no influence on hair loss at all: follicles need more than blood flow to grow hair.
- Hair loss comes from the mother's side
While baldness is genetic, it is not limited to the maternal side of the family. The hair-loss gene can come from either side. If your uncle Tom on your father's side has a receding hairline, then chances are you might not be in the clear.

Dandruff and dry scalp are two entirely different things. A quality shampoo and conditioner can be recommended that will take care of the dry scalp, which is just 'flaking'
Dandruff though is a serious health issue and may require medical attention as well as prescribed medication. The 'flakes' are actually oily, not dry. Very few people have actual dandruff, if you still have a problem while using a recommended shampoo and conditioner, you can check with your doctor.
